ALBATROS, as it name says, is inspired by one of the bigges seabirds - the albatros. This bird has the ability to fly extremely long distances at high seas by using different soaring techniques. The tubes of its bill allows him measuring the exact airspeed in flight. So even while storms he can still manoeuver safely.
ALBATROS is a long range high speed rescue aircraft, especially designed for missions at high seas. Much faster than an helicopter or ship it can reach the site of an accident at high seas.
Within its wings it has additional hover pads, that allows the aircraft to hold its position, when it is near the ground and has arrived at its final destination. At both sides it has life buoys, which can be droped for fast first help until other rescue units arrive, if needed.
The large glider-wings can be folded back at their pivot, when the aircraft is in parking position, f.e. at an aircraft carrier or rescue ship.
